Originally from Burlingame, California, Judie Cain studied at California College of the Arts before pursuing a career in the business world. After taking early retirement, she returned to painting through college courses, workshops, and private lessons.

Painting from life whenever possible, or from her own reference photos, Judie strives to capture the light and mood of the moment using brush and palette knife. Her goal is to convey the fleeting beauty and joy found in nature and everyday life.

An award-winning artist, Judie has been represented by galleries in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and California, including Murphys, Sonora, Copperopolis, and Carmel. Primarily an oil painter, she also works in gouache and teaches adult classes and private lessons in painting fundamentals and color.

Judie lives in Murphys, California, where she operates The Cain Art Studio, a private working studio and classroom open by appointment, for classes, and special events.
