About the Sonora Photo Club

The Sonora Photo Club, founded in 2005, is based in the historic California Gold Country town of Sonora. The club is affiliated with the Mother Lode Art Association and is dedicated to learning & growing in the art of photography.

Photographers of all experience levels—from beginners to professionals—are welcome. Meetings provide a friendly, supportive environment where members can share knowledge, develop their skills, and connect over a shared passion for photography.

In addition to regular meetings, the club organizes field trips that give members the chance to practice their craft in real-world settings. Located near Yosemite National Park, the club enjoys easy access to scenic landscapes, historic mining towns, ranches, farms, wineries, and the stunning Sonora Pass region—offering endless photographic opportunities.

Members are also encouraged to share their work through a variety of club-sponsored events. Each meeting includes a “Theme of the Month” where members contribute images for display and optional peer critique. Additional opportunities include presentations, slideshows, and participation in local exhibitions, including the annual Mother Lode Art Association art show.

Visitors are always welcome. Stop by a meeting to get to know the group and see if you'd like to become a member. For more information—including meeting details and upcoming events —visit sonoraphotoclub.org. You can also follow the club on Facebook and Instagram.
