About the Artist

Lydia started clay classes with her daughter, Rachel, in 2000. Rachel went on to become a very proficient wheel potter - Lydia found hand building. She went back to college and completed a B.A. in Art as a 50th birthday present to herself. Lydia's work is strongly influenced by nature and her garden. Clay is a way to preserve the beauty of nature and bring it into the home: to use it every day. Clay should speak to be touched and bring joy with that touch. Lydia makes functional pieces for the home and large vessels to tell stories. Lydia is the founder/owner of Sonora Arts, an art studio located in Mono Village, which offers art classes in various mediums.
